As the President of a Utah Leadership Development and Mentoring Institute, I work with individuals who are seeking to develop the skills that will enable them to move from relative to professional status
By doing so, they develop the self-confidence and internal processes for obtaining a better quality of life.
Leaders who are learning how to be more successful and grow in their career use the experts who are working for or with their organization. They can take courses and seminars, attend workshops, and attend conferences to learn new techniques and methods. However, using the learning methods of others may not be enough to lead effectively and reach one’s full potential.
An individual needs to study and apply what he learns from the experts. To become an expert, the person must learn from the experts about which skills are important to develop. He must create new skill sets or develop those skills that he already has to achieve his goals.
In order to do this, an individual must make use of tools such as the Leadership Development Plan, Map Professional Development and Coaching Materials, and the Cisco Interruption Training Products. http://www.parents-choice.org To be effective, an individual must use these resources to effectively map professional development skills.
The individual must make use of the services of an employee liaison during the planning period. Such a liaison assists the leader in developing the plan that best meets the requirements of the leadership development process.
The Resources can assist the leaders in learning what resources are available and what tools can help them meet their objectives. These resources include but are not limited to, strategic planning and training, business plans, and leadership development tools. Individual coaching can also be done through tools such as the power points, videos, and the training tools available from some of the leaders.
Map Professional Developmentand Coaching Materials can assist the leaders in mapping their competencies and skills to better serve their organizations. Skills that are used throughout the organization can be identified. The leaders can then take steps to develop new competencies and skills for themselves.
The conferences that are held by the Center can be used as the teachers and coaches can bring to the leaders so that they can learn from the seminars and give them feedback on their progress. The conferences also include practice games and activities that the leaders can use to review their skills and competencies. This feedback allows the leaders to seek out areas for further improvement.
Internal projects can be used as resources to help identify new skill sets and competencies. Through the use of other’s experiences, the leaders can identify what areas they are still working on. These will be used in the plan that will be developed to further develop their skills.
Cisco Interruption Training is available to the leaders at the Cisco Interruption Training Center that are able to learn new skills and utilize new tools and technology to improve their performance. All of the leaders can learn new information, tactics, and leadership techniques. And, all of the leaders can put these new techniques to work for them in the ways that they have not been doing.
As the leaders are becoming more effective, they will be able to better use the resources of the leadership development center at the Utah Leadership Development and Mentoring Institute. By using the resources, they will be able to become an expert. And, the leaders can do this in their own time, no matter how long it takes.
Through the years of experiences as Uveg Leaders, I have seen firsthand the growth and the development of these leaders. It is not easy to do, but it can be done. The tools and training that are available are there to help.
